Recover a counter
Lost the management link? Whoever can edit the page the counter sits on is its owner – and that can be shown. No account, no e-mail needed.
Put this line anywhere on that exact page – in the footer, in a post, as an HTML comment. It has to be in the source; it does not have to be visible. Then have it checked below. The marker is valid for one hour.
What this route cannot do: if your counter sits in a forum signature, or on any page others may write to, they could do the same. That is why every recovery is logged and changes the token – someone else's attempt invalidates your link, and so it shows.
